Altadena Golf Club
2025 FALCO Cup Rules & Posting Instructions
Notes and Explanations
1) The 32 players in this year’s Match Play Championship have been “seeded” based on their net score from the 2025 Falco Cup Qualifier Tournament, which was held at Marshall Canyon Golf Course on Saturday, July 19. All “seeding” decisions by the Club President are binding and final.
2) Players will play to 90% of their index as of the July Falco Cup Qualifier at Marshall Canyon. These adjusted handicaps are listed to the right of the players’ names on the master scoreboard/bracket sheets. These handicaps will be in effect for all 2025 Match Play Championship matches, regardless of the slope/rating of the course you play.
3) Players will play from the following tees: Men will play from the Blue Tees. Women will play from the Red Tees.
4) Matches are to be played at a golf course that is mutually agreed upon by the players.
5) All players MUST enter their contact information on the “2025 Falco Cup Club Contact List” found under the “Tournaments” drop-down on the AGC website. Please click HERE to go to the website. This is how you can contact or will be contacted for your matches.
6) Although either player can make the first email to arrange their match, the player with the lower seed of the bracket is actually the player responsible for setting up the match.
7) Matches must be played by the completion date indicated on the respective Brackets. Any extension of the completion date must be cleared through the Tournament Director ahead of time. A player unable to complete the scheduled match on-time, (vacation, workload, etc.), must forfeit the match. If neither player can agree on a date, but both could make time, both players may forfeit. This type of dispute and all other protests/challenges will be settled by the Club President. The Club President’s decisions will be final and binding.
8) Once a match is completed, THE WINNING PLAYER MUST EMAIL BOTH the Club President at, billfennessy@sbcglobal.net , and the Communications Chair at mckiernantm@gmail.com to report the match results. Once the results are reported for a match that determines your next opponent, the Brackets will then be updated on the website.
9) There are Payouts and Player of the Year points for each win this year’s AGC Match Play Championships.
10) Handicap application explanation: Match play is a hole-by-hole competition. Handicap differentials are applied to specific holes. Example #1: If player “A” has a 6 handicap and player “B” has an 18 handicap, the differential is12 strokes. Player “B” receives a stroke on handicap holes 1-12. Handicap holes are listed on the scorecard. Example #2: If player “A” has a 2 handicap and player “B” has a 24 handicap, the differential is 22 strokes. Player “B” receives 1 stroke on all 18 holes and 2 strokes on handicap holes 1-4. If the match is tied at the end of 18 holes, the playoff will be determined by the player with the lowest Net 18-hole score. If still tied, a “Net Card-Off” will be the determining factor, with the handicap strokes awarded wherever they fall on the card. Contact the Club President and Communications Chair if there is any confusion in determining the winner.
11) Final scores must be posted even though in match play a “hole” can be conceded and putts “given”. Players are responsible for posting their own scores and are to be posted as an “Away” round.
